6A Identifying Opportunities

Walmart cracking down on gun ammunition

a) Fox News
b) Alaska Walmarts are ending hand gun and ammunition sales throughout the state. Throughout the entire nation, 5,000 Walmarts are going to be putting a stop to single-barrel rifle and handgun ammunition sales. This will reduce the ammunition market sale from 20% to 6-9%.
c) The customer that would most likely have this opportunity would clearly be people who have these types of guns and the workers of Walmart who work in that department.
d) I believe this will be difficult to exploit due to the states that have the right to carry laws and permits. Yes there will be other places you can buy ammunition at but I believe this will cause customers to boycott Walmart which will cause them to lose a certain percentage of money.
e) I saw this opportunity because there are many of people in this nation who are strongly opinionated against gun and ammunition sales. They believe that they either need to be limited or stopped completely. This is an opportunity that will have more of a chance at changing.

Fair Pay to Play Act

a) Washington Post
b) California State Senates have passed a bill which will allow student-athletes to receive sponsorships and endorsement deals in NCAA Division I programs. The State Senates are attacking the NCAA rules and going against what the NCAA is about.
c) The customer that would most likely have this opportunity would be the college athletes.
d) I believe that this will be difficult to exploit due to the amount of people who will be against this like other divisions within the NCAA. Not all college divisions will be receiving this opportunity for the athletes and this will lessen the competition nationwide.
e) I saw this opportunity because this has been a topic for years since the Fab 5 started at the University of Michigan. With California being the first state to propose a bill, there will be other states folllowing (New York) in order to keep the fairness between NCAA schools.

California approves statewide rent control to ease housing crisis

a) New York Times
b) State lawmakers approved a statewide rent cap. This will limit rent increases to 5% after inflation. California is the highest state in the nation for rent and cost of living. They hope this will limit homelessness.
c) The customer that would most likely have this opportunity would be the renters and the landlords.
d) I believe that this will be easy to exploit because the cost of living in California is ridiculously high and by putting a rent cap on it would hopefully make people want to stay where they are without leaving.
e) I saw this opportunity because many people move to California and can't afford it because the cost of living is more expensive than any of their bills combined. With changing the way they are pricing rent, they will have happier renters who might pay their rent on time and move into more places.

Change is happening for women in the sports industry

a) Huff Post
b) The media is changing the perception of women in sports and not just by playing, but by being on the business side of it. More women everyday are becoming decision makers of sports rather than followers.
c) The customer that would most likely have this opportunity would be women.
d) I believe that this will be both easy and difficult to exploit. I feel this way because there are people in this world who believe that women should not have a say when it comes to sports. But there are also people in this world who believe they need to have more of a say. It's an ongoing battle that will forever being going on.
e) I saw this opportunity because women are starting to make a change in the sports industry. With the follow sports season starting, there are more female leaders and more female coaches. Allowing women to take control and be leaders, it will allow them to make a change and equal out the offices.
